Pinchr is free and open source software that runs locally on your computer. We believe in being straightforward about what data we collect (very little) and what we don't (almost everything). This policy covers both the Pinchr desktop application and the pinchr.com website.

The Short Version

1. The Pinchr Desktop App

Pinchr collects no data. The desktop application runs entirely on your computer. We do not operate servers that receive data from the app. Specifically:

  • Conversations — stored locally on your machine, never sent to us
  • API keys — stored locally, never transmitted to Pinchr servers
  • Files and data — processed locally, never uploaded to us
  • Usage data — we don't track what you do in the app
  • Crash reports — we don't collect them automatically

Your data is yours. It stays on your machine. Period.

2. Third-Party AI Providers

When you use Pinchr, your prompts and conversations are sent directly from your machine to your chosen AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.) using your own API keys. This data goes straight to them — it does not pass through any Pinchr servers.

How those providers handle your data is governed by their privacy policies, not ours. We encourage you to review them:

3. The pinchr.com Website

The website is separate from the desktop app. Here's what applies to pinchr.com:

Hosting. The website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect standard server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps) as part of their infrastructure. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.

Analytics. We may use privacy-focused analytics to understand basic website traffic (page views, referrers). No personal data is collected for analytics purposes.

Cookies. We use only essential cookies required for basic website functionality. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

4. What We Don't Do

To be explicit:

  • We never sell your data to anyone
  • We never use your data for advertising
  • We never train AI models on your conversations
  • We never share your data with third parties for marketing
  • We do not collect payment or billing information — Pinchr is free

5. Children's Privacy

Pinchr is not intended for use by anyone under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

6. Open Source Transparency

Pinchr is open source. You can read the source code and verify every claim in this policy yourself. That's the whole point.

7. Changes

If we update this policy, we'll post the changes here with an updated date. Since we're open source, significant changes will also be visible in our commit history.
